Colorado Submits Drug Importation Plan to FDA

The state of Colorado has submitted its proposed plan to the FDA seeking the agency’s approval to import prescription drugs from Canada.

The plan lists 112 commonly prescribed drugs such as blood thinners and drugs for Type 2 diabetes, asthma, cancer and HIV.

The state said the importation plan could lead to prescription drug savings of 65 percent for Colorado residents.

Other states including Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Vermont have also sought the FDA’s approval for drug import programs.
