European lab services company buys Ascend Clinical LLC
Eurofins Scientific has purchased the largest independent dialysis testing lab in the United States. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Eurofins Scientific has acquired Ascend Clinical LLC, the largest independent laboratory for dialysis testing in the United States, according to a press release. Terms were not disclosed.
"We are excited to join forces with the Eurofins network,” Patti Hunsader, chief operating officer of Ascend Clinical, said in the release. “This partnership creates exciting opportunities to leverage our combined expertise and resources to positively impact the lives of the patients we serve.”
Hunsader will assume the role of president of Ascend as part of the acquisition, according to the release.
Founded in 2000, Ascend operates a laboratory in Sunnyvale, California, and employs 170 staff. The company provides chemistry, hematology, microbiology and virology testing services to dialysis clinics and hospitals and offers water and dialysate testing.
"This transaction further extends our efforts to provide best in class testing care to patients in the renal and transplantation fields,” Gilles Martin, CEO of Eurofins Scientific, said in the release. “We look forward to providing Ascend’s clients with access to the capabilities of the Eurofins network, and to support Ascend in strengthening and growing the important services they provide to patients.”
Along with Hunsader, the existing leadership of Ascend will remain in place, Eurofins Scientific said in the release.
The company employs 62,000 people in more than 900 laboratories in 62 countries.
