RNA expansion repeats are found in various genetic disorders, including Huntington's disease, myotonic dystrophy, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. These repeats can cause toxic RNA to accumulate and disrupt cellular processes, leading to disease symptoms. ChemDiv research aims to develop small molecules that can selectively target and specifically bind to RNA expansion repeats and potentially treat these disorders. It combines computational modeling, medicinal chemistry, and biophysical assays to identify, optimize and develop small molecules with high potency and selectivity.
