British Pharma Industry Cites Six Companies for Code Violations

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) has cited six companies — Novo Nordisk, Daiichi-Sankyo, Lundbeck, AstraZeneca, UCB and Biogen — for breaching its self-regulated code of practice.

The harshest criticism was for Novo Nordisk for several violations including offering individual health professionals an inducement to prescribe products. The board publicly reprimanded the company which will now undergo an audit.

AstraZeneca was tagged for several violations including failing to certify promotional material and promoting an unlicensed indication, while Lundbeck was cited for promoting a medicine before it received marketing authorization.
