ChemDiv presents the new PTPN Targeted Library. Protein tyrosine phosphatases are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.  Protein tyrosine phosphatases are a group of enzymes that remove phosphate groups from phosphorylated tyrosine residues on proteins. 


Maintaining an appropriate level of protein tyrosine phosphorylation is essential for many cellular functions. Several PTPs have been identified as the products of tumor suppressor genes. There are examples of aberrant upregulation of PTPs in human cancer. These enzymes are key regulatory components in signal transduction pathways. Since several components of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase signaling pathway are targeted in cancer, cell cycle control, they are important in proliferation, differentiation, transformation, and synaptic plasticity.
